First recorded in 1469, the estate served as a hunting lodge. Three phases of expansion followed, including the Neo-Gothic transformation by Charles Roques in 1866.
Since the 15th century, the owners have belonged to the nobility; then it passed into the hands of different families, including several mayors of the commune of Gennes.
Past owners include noble families, several mayors of Gennes, the sculptor Madame Achalme and a noted photographer.

Covering an area of 12 hectares, the La Roche Froissard park consists of forest, meadows, trails for walking, and a beautiful terrace offering a unique view of the castle’s roofs and the Loire River. It also offers direct access to the banks of the river, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Some of the estate's parcels have joined the Joreau Lake and Forest Nature Reserve, which itself is part of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park.
This green landscape therefore represents a privileged destination for nature lovers and cyclists of the Loire on two wheels.

After a fulfilling professional career as doctors, we chose to embark on a project that brings us closer to nature while allowing us to satisfy our interest in old stone buildings and renovation.
We fell in love with the Domaine de La Roche Froissard in 2022 and now we want to share with you this enchanting setting on the banks of the Loire.
Jérôme joined us to help manage the gîtes.
With his hospitality experience, Jérôme is your point of contact before and during your stay.
